Awards

Dilip Kumar Singh was honored with the first-place award for the best poster presentation in the post-doctorate category by Division of Drug Metabolism and Disposition at the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) meeting in St. Louis, held from May 18-21, 2023. The ASPET Annual Meeting was primarily focused on facilitating the sharing of cutting-edge knowledge and innovative scientific discoveries in the fields of pharmacology and experimental therapeutics. The DMDD group within the conference encompasses extensive research on various aspects of drug disposition, metabolism, and transport, ranging from molecular mechanisms to phenotypic effects, employing both in vitro and in vivo approaches.

Dilip presented a novel high-throughput metabolomics-based MetID workflow for detection and identification of biotransformation products of drugs in biological samples. This novel approach will be useful during drug development to generate xenobiotic metabolite libraries to facilitate drug metabolism research.

Each year, the Division of Drug Metabolism and Disposition of ASPET invites the 1st place winners to serve as an Executive Committee (EC) member. Dilip Kumar Singh has been selected to represent postdoctoral fellows on the DMDD EC; July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024.

Peter Obi gave an invited talk, “Deep Learning in GPCR drug discovery: Exploring novel conformational states of class A GPCRs using generative models and enhanced sampling techniques, at the Pfizer Pharmacokinetics, Dynamics, and Metabolism (PDM) Connect event (May 16, 2023) in Groton, CT.

Anoud Ailabouni (graduate student, Prasad lab) presented a poster and podium talk entitled, “Identification of endogenous biomarkers of renal organic cation transporters in rats by global metabolomics analysis”, in the graduate student category at the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) meeting in St. Louis, MO; May 19 & 20, 2023.

Anoud Ailabouni was granted a travel award to attend the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) meeting in St. Louis, held from May 18-21, 2023. ASPET is a scientific society that focuses on pharmacology and experimental therapeutics, covering a wide range of topics related to drug discovery and development, drug disposition, metabolism, and transport, utilizing both in vitro and in vivo methodologies. The ASPET Annual Meeting brings together researchers, scientists, academicians, and industry professionals from around the world to share and discuss the latest advancements and research in the field of pharmacology. The meeting serves as a platform for exchanging knowledge, fostering collaborations, and promoting scientific advancements in pharmacology and experimental therapeutics.

At the event, she participated in a poster competition in the graduate student category organized by the Division of Drug Metabolism and Disposition and was selected to present her work through a podium talk. During her presentation, Anoud introduced a novel untargeted metabolomics approach aimed to identify endogenous biomarkers for the organic cation transporter 2 (OCT2) expressed in rat kidneys. This research will be valuable in the early stages of drug development, as it aids in predicting renal drug-drug interactions by using novel endogenous metabolites of OCT2 that can serve as potential biomarkers.
