This scholarship was established in honor of Marguerite Villars, a well-respected and well-known “pioneer” in the field of pharmacy. Marguerite was an anchor for the Spokane Pharmacy Association for over 50 years. Marguerite, a graduate of University of Washington School of Pharmacy, came to Spokane in the 1950s and was one of the first female pharmacists in the Inland Northwest. She served as a preceptor to hundreds of WSU College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences students for several decades. The Marguerite Villars/Spokane Pharmacy Association scholarship is a wonderful tribute to her legacy and lifetime of service to the pharmacy community in Spokane.
