Dilip Kumar Singh (second on left)
  • Dilip Kumar Singh (Prasad Lab) presented a poster titled “The Ontogeny and Interindividual Variability of Hydrolytic Drug-Metabolizing Enzymes in Human Liver” at the 2024 ISSX/JSSX meeting, held in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. He presented novel work on ontogeny profiling and inter-individual variability of hydrolases, which is important for developing physiologically-based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) models to predict safer pediatric dosing. Dr. Singh was awarded first place in the Postdoctoral Scientists Poster Award category, highlighting the importance and impact of his research in the field of drug metabolism and disposition. The research is funded by The Proteomics-based Research Initiative for Non-Cytochrome P450 Enzymes (PRINCE) consortium, a research collaboration between Prasad lab, Washington State University and multiple pharmaceutical companies (AbbVie, Boehringer-Ingelheim, Genentech, Gilead, and Takeda). (September 15-18, 2024)
  • Dilip Kumar Singh (Prasad Lab) presented a poster titled “Deconvoluting the Global Metabolomic Changes Caused by a Complex Clinical Pharmacokinetic Cimetidine-Metformin Interaction Involving Organic Cation Transporters” at the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) Meeting 2024, held in Arlington, VA. His work, which delves into the complex metabolomic changes triggered by this pharmacokinetic interaction, earned significant recognition. Singh was awarded second place in the Postdoctoral Scientists Poster Award category by the Division for Drug Metabolism and Disposition (DMDD), highlighting the importance and impact of his research in the field of pharmacology. His research focuses on the discovery of biomarkers for hepatic and renal drug transporters, aimed at ensuring the safe use of drugs by enabling the prediction of drug disposition, toxicity, efficacy, and interaction potential. (May 16-19, 2024)
Kari Gaither and Dilip Kumar Singh
  • Kari Gaither (Prasad Lab) presented a poster titled “Interplay of Alcohol Intake, Smoking, and Sex on the Protein Abundance of Hepatic Drug Metabolizing Enzymes and Transporters in Humans” at the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) Meeting 2024, held in Arlington, VA. Gaither’s work received considerable acknowledgment and praise and was awarded third place in the Postdoctoral Scientists Poster Award category by the Division for Drug Metabolism and Disposition (DMDD) and Second Place in the Dolores C. Shockley Postdoctoral Poster Competition, highlighting the significance of her research in the field of pharmacology. (May 16-19, 2024)

Service

  • Kari Gaither was recently selected to represent WSU as a member of the new 2024-2025 cohort of ASPET Washington Fellows, where she will learn about science policy, the intersection of public policy, science, and the public, and how to become engaged in policy issues. As a part of the program, she will travel to Washington D.C. to speak to policy makers and legislators about her research and the critical need to increase science funding.
