Pharmaceutical Sciences Postdoctoral Research Associate Dilip Singh, Pharmaceutical Sciences Associate in Research Guihua Yue, Pharmaceutical Sciences Associate Professor Bhagwat Prasad  with Pharmaceutical Sciences and Molecular Medicine Graduate Students Sheena Sharma and Deepak Ahire and three other co-authors published, “Quantitative characterization of clinically relevant drug-metabolizing enzymes and transporters in rat liver and intestinal segments for applications in PBPK modeling,” in Molecular Pharmaceutics in February 2023.

Bhagwat Prasad with Pharmaceutical Sciences and Molecular Medicine Graduate Student Sheena Sharma and one other co-author published, “B. Interplay of breast cancer resistance protein (Bcrp/Abcg2), sex, and fed state in oral pharmacokinetic variability of furosemide in rats,” in Pharmaceutics in January 2023.

J. Roberts and Marcia Fosberg Distinguished Regents Professor of Pharmacotherapy and Director of the Drug Information Center Danial Baker published, “Evidence-based review of journal articles: focus on internal & external validity,” Gulf Medical University in February 2023.

Pharmacotherapy Vice Chair and Allen I. White Distinguished Professor Joshua Neumiller and four co-authors published, “Medication therapy management: partnering with clinical pharmacists to improve patient outcomes.”

Presentations

On February 7, United States Transuranium and Uranium Registries (USTUR) had a special session at HPS Internal Dosimetry Workshop with nine podium presentations dedicated to its history, research, and activities. USTUR faculty members – Postdoctoral Research Associate Martin Sefl, Associate in Research Xirui Liu, and Assistant Professor George Tabatadze presented at the meeting. As USTUR Director Sergei Tolmachev was not able to attend, Tabatadze gave the opening/overview presentation and Adjunct Professor Dan Strom chaired the session.

Josh Neumiller presented the webinar, “Continuous glucose monitoring: moving beyond A1C for diabetes management,” for Pharmacy Times Continuing Education (PTCE) on February 28, 2023.

Service

Pharmaceutical Sciences Assistant Professor Maia Avtandilashvili was selected as a Council Member of the NCRP effective March 2023. There are only 100 Council Members and Avtandilashvili will be the third WSU member selected by the NCRP. This is a six-year appointment.

Josh Neumiller served as faculty for the American Diabetes Association (ADA) educational module, “Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists.” The module was created by request from Walmart and will be available to Walmart learners through the ADA website.

Josh Neumiller served as lead on the Pharmacy Times Continuing Education (PTCE) Resource Center, “Taking a personalized approach to diabetes management with iCGM: a look at advancing technology, data comprehension, and the pharmacist’s role.”

Aarzoo Thakur (Prasad Lab) successfully passed the preliminary exam January 17, 2023.
