PharmD + MBA

in partnership with the Carson College of Business

Whether you are preparing to own your own pharmacy or simply want to understand the business side of the profession, the PharmD/MBA program helps you to develop into an outstanding health care professional with strong business leadership skills who brings value to your community.

Hone your skillset with diverse perspectives and an entrepreneurial mindset. The WSU College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Carson College of Business offers you a unique opportunity to understand the pharmacy business and learn skills to draft a business plan. According to US News & World Report, the WSU online MBA ranks as one of the top 20 online programs in the country. Through this innovative and flexible program, you will be able to complete your Doctor of Pharmacy in person while networking with peers around the world virtually.

This dual degree and certificate program saves students time and money as crossover elective courses can be applied to both the PharmD and MBA degree.

This collaboration is a result of the colleges’ combined missions to develop outstanding health care professionals, prepare leaders in the pharmacy profession, develop globally competitive business leaders, and create value for communities.

Online MBA

The Carson College of Business believes academics should reflect real life. The online MBA courses are designed to equip you with in-demand knowledge that you can use right now and throughout your entire career. You will do more than learn business terminology—you will study live business cases, examine strategic plans, and complete a hands-on capstone project based on actual scenarios from the business world. Student pharmacists in particular will focus on pharmacy-related business models.

Certificate Program

Not sure if the online MBA is right for you? Professionals seeking to enhance their business background can choose a concentration in marketing, finance, hospital business management, international business, or a general business administration as a nine-credit graduate certificate. Students pursuing a certificate follow the same enrollment requirements as those seeking admission to the online MBA program.

How to Apply

Applicants must satisfy all admission requirements for both programs.

Applicants must apply separately and be admitted to both the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Carson College of Business to pursue this degree track. Students can apply after being admitted to the pharmacy program, but they cannot enroll in courses until spring semester of their first year. This will ensure that students are comfortable with the pharmacy program before taking on additional academic responsibilities. The PCAT and GMAT are not required for pharmacy students.

Tuition & Financial Aid

Tuition will be paid to both colleges at the same time.

*The tuition for the MBA program is in the per-credit tuition charge table under the global title.

If you have any questions about financial aid please contact spokane.financialaid@wsu.edu.

In addition to this the Carson College of Business will allow students to complete their business plan requirement through the CPPS so students can focus on a pharmacy-related business model.

The Carson College of Business waives the MBA application fee for student pharmacists entering the dual degree. Contact Pharmacy Student Services for the fee waiver information.

The WSU PharmD/MBA program offered me a great opportunity to learn critical business and management skills… The things that struck me almost immediately about both areas were the welcoming atmosphere and helpful attitudes of the faculty and staff. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enhance their education.
