About Me

I’m originally from the Midwest, and have lived in Ohio, Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri at some point in my life. My passion for pharmacy first began with my grandparents, who had no idea what medications they were taking and asked me to help organize and explain their pill boxes. Over a decade later, I found myself as the transitions of care clinical pharmacist at MultiCare Deaconess Hospital occasionally doing just that and much, much more! My core interest is infectious diseases, specifically with ensuring patients have access to an appropriate treatment course for infections no matter what their barriers may be. I’m particularly interested in long-acting antibiotics used to treat bone and cardiovascular infections. Often, they are expensive and can be difficult to arrange on an outpatient basis. However, they represent a huge opportunity for patients to avoid inpatient stays, and for hospitals to keep beds open for other patients. I also have a passion for education, both in terms of patient counseling and in educating the next generation of healthcare professionals.

For teaching, I am involved in the pharmacotherapy courses with various topics, and I’m also looking forward to potentially being a part of the infectious diseases elective course. For fourth-year pharmacy students, I offer two rotations in transitions of care, one focused on ambulatory care, and one focused on internal medicine. I am passionate about providing unique pharmacy experiences for all levels of learners.

In my spare time I like to…

Outside of pharmacy, I am an avid ultimate frisbee player and disc golfer. It’s a fun way for me to separate from the stressors of health care. I also enjoy making ice cream; kayaking; and playing with my two cats, Meeko and Suki (but not all at the same time).

Why WSU?

Education and mentorship have always been passions of mine, so when a position opened for clinical faculty with placement at Deaconess it was a no-brainer for me to pursue it. With WSU’s vast impact on health care, I’m excited to help teach the next generation of pharmacists!
