After careful consideration, and due to the surge in new COVID-19 cases, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Crimson Gala that was scheduled for Friday, October 8, 2021, at the Spokane Convention Center. The CPPS mission and vision is “to be a leader in advancing, promoting and protecting human health.” Therefore, we simply could not proceed with an in-person gathering that could potentially be a conduit for more cases of the delta variant of COVID-19.
We discussed this decision with John Oftebro, who was slated to receive the R. Keith Campbell Lifetime Achievement Award. Rather than proceed with a virtual gala we’ve decided to postpone the Crimson Gala until sometime in 2022. Both John and the CougaRx Nation alumni board concur with this decision. We are tentatively planning to host a virtual Pharmacy Homecoming event on Friday, October 8, and we welcome your input on this matter. We held a similar virtual event last year and it was a well-attended success.
For those that have purchased tickets and/or sponsorships, there are a couple of options: 1) we can hold your contribution and use it for the 2022 Crimson Gala, 2) we can issue a refund, or 3) we would be honored to consider your gift as a charitable donation that will benefit pharmacy student scholarships. If you would be so kind as to reach out to Kelly Sylvester, Director of Development at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 509-368-6675, we can provide more details.
On behalf of everyone at the college, we appreciate your support and understanding, and we share your frustration. We will provide details for the college’s virtual homecoming event and the tailgate party as the dates approach.

Wegner Hall Parking Lot | WSU Pullman
Three hours prior to kick-off
We are still reviewing the feasibility of holding the Pharmacy homecoming tailgate party on Saturday, October 9 in the Wegner Hall parking lot on the Pullman campus. We will have more information on this as the date approaches. Football tickets that have been purchased are not impacted at this time. However, we are uncertain if bus transportation, organized by WSU Athletics, will operate between Spokane and Pullman on the day of the game. This is a constantly evolving situation and we will continue to monitor and will provide details as they become available on this webpage.
