SUMMARY:WSU CPPS Drug Discovery and Evaluation Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (CPPS) Drug Discovery and Evaluation Workshop (DDEW) at Washington State University provides an inside look at how drugs are discovered and developed\, from finding a target to evaluation of drug safety and efficacy in the clinic. This workshop is intended to provide a broad overview of the drug discovery process for undergraduate- and masters-level students who are interested in learning how drugs are designed\, developed\, evaluated\, and translated into medicines. \nProgram Description \nThe Drug Discovery and Evaluation Workshop is a three-day event beginning on Wednesday\, August 9\, 2023\, and continuing to Friday\, August 11\, 2023. Day 1 will be broken up into morning informational sessions\, afternoon research and core facility lab tours\, followed by afternoon informational sessions. Optional Day 2 (Thursday\, August 12) is the CPPS Industry Advisory Board (IAB) meeting. This is a unique opportunity for students to hear from\, and interact with\, representatives from many of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies\, including Pfizer\, Merck\, Genentech\, Bristol Myers Squibb\, Gilead\, Takeda\, and more. Optional Day 3 (Friday\, August 13) is the CPPS “Research Day.” Research day highlights the research being performed throughout the CPPS. The day consists of oral and poster presentations from WSU CPPS Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) awardees\, graduate students\, and post docs. \nImportant Dates:\n \n\nRegistration and supporting materials are due by midnight Tuesday\, August 8\, 2023.\nProgram dates are August 9 -11\, 2023.\nRegistration is on a first come\, first served basis. Up to 30 slots are available.\n\nWho is eligible: \n\nUndergraduate- or Masters-level students from Community Colleges and Universities are eligible to attend the workshop.\nHigh school students interested in pharmaceutical and biomedical careers can attend the Wednesday\, August 9 events as a Zoom Webinar.\nPreference will be given to students from the Pacific Northwest.\n\nRegister here: https://wsu.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6J78TmE8OAgvng2\n \nQuestions?
