CORE Frequently Asked Questions

Preceptors have access to CORE ELMS and Readiness, functions of either platform are listed below.

CORE ELMS

  • Rotation scheduling and management
  • Site and rotation descriptions
  • Evaluations
  • Incident tracking (e. needlesticks)
  • Onboarding information

CORE Readiness

  • Students, preceptors and faculty can access and utilize the 1,100 videos available. These have mini-assessments tied to them. These educational videos span various topics from high-level drug counseling to interviewing tips and how to write a professional email.
  • Preceptors can create a “playlist” from the video library specific to their rotation to share with students.

MyCred

  • This is an ePortfolio platform, similar to LinkedIn, to maintain an active CV. This is primarily intended for students, however preceptors also have access to this. You can customize content to share with different individuals. You can also choose to make it searchable online, or could include the direct link in your preceptor bio in CORE ELMS to share with students.

Once your preceptor account is set-up in CORE ELMS you will receive an email with your login information. If you have misplaced that, or could not find the email in your inbox please check your junk folder. Emails from CORE ELMS are sent from: no-reply@corehighered.com.

Once you login to your account you can update your email in “Account Information” to provide a primary email and secondary email.

Tip: We suggest having general pharmacy emails only as a secondary email and not a primary.

  1. Take 5 minutes to explore your CORE ELMS account!
  2. Review “My Schedule” across the top grey navigation bar to ensure it looks correct!
  3. Update your requirements (licensure info), this is under “My Requirements” on the left-hand navigation. You will be able to update information here whenever needed!
  4. Customize information under “Profile Information” on the left-hand navigation:
    • “Description” this can be a short bio about yourself!
Note: rotation and site descriptions are housed elsewhere, they can be viewed under “View Profile.”
    • “Specialties” add your specialties!
    • “View Profile” is where you can review what students will be able to see. This includes contact information, any description/bio you inputted, the site and rotation information we have available, site requirements and the site relationship “tree.”
  5. Update info in “Account Information” on the top grey navigation bar.
    • We’ve built in more information we’d love to have about each account. You can add a secondary email and much more!
Note: there are two places we ask for license information, in “My Requirements” and in “Account Information.”
  6. Add a photo if you’d like! You can do this by clicking the camera icon next to your name in the top black navigation bar.

Tip: See the videos in “Document Library” under “How-To Videos for CORE” for visual tutorials.

Initially Experiential Services will send you a login for CORE ELMS, which will be your “primary” account and from which you can link to CORE Readiness or MyCred.

Technically your ELMS, Readiness and MyCred account will have separate logins and passwords, however you can link these together. Start by logging into your CORE ELMS account (WSU will notify you once this has been sent) and you can then toggle Readiness or MyCred in the upper righthand corner (screenshot below). Once you click “Readiness” it will initially ask you to login, and it will retain that information if you allow it to, so you will not be prompted again.

Yes, if it is appropriate for your role to have access to the entire sites schedule we can create a “coordinator” account for you. This is appropriate for those that complete onboarding, coordinate orientations, etc.

If you are also a preceptor then you will have two accounts, one for your precepting and one as a coordinator for the site. These can be linked together so that you can simply switch between your accounts once logged in.

As a preceptor you can access your student schedule several ways:

  1. From the home screen use the filters available,
  2. Across the top navigation bar select “My schedule”,
  3. On the left-hand navigation select “Scheduling” and “Rotation Schedule.”

Tip: You can also review the video in “Document Library” titled “ELMS: Viewing Your Schedule” for a visual tutorial.

If you are a site coordinator you will access your sites schedule two ways:

  1. From the home screen by selecting from the drop-down filter “Select Student From Coordinator Tree,”
  2. On the left-hand navigation select “Scheduling” and “Your Preceptors Schedules.” As a coordinator you will not have a precepting schedule assigned to that account, so nothing will display under “My Schedule” across the top navigation or from the left-hand navigation under “Scheduling” and “Rotation Schedule.”

If you are both a preceptor and a coordinator at your site then you will have two accounts, once linked you can switch between accounts easily from the top navigation bar by selecting “My Accounts.” See the video in “Document Library” titled “ELMS: Linking Multiple Preceptor Accounts” for more information.

We are working to build all the rotation requirements into CORE. Students will actually be able to upload documents to requirements in CORE.

To find site onboarding information login to CORE ELMS, and on the left-hand navigation select “Profile Information,” then “View Profile” and select “Site Requirements.”

Alternatively, if you select “Profile Information” and “Site Requirements” you will see a full listing of all requirements for all sites. However, it will only have check marks next to items if there is something specific to only your rotation, which is usually not the case. Most often requirements have been applied at the site level only, instead please select “View Profile” to see what students view and review the information listed there.

Simple! You can select “Profile Information” on the left-hand navigation and “View Profile.” Then select either “Contact Info/Map,” “Specifics,” “Site Requirements” or “Site Tree w/Description & Docs.”

  • Contact Info/Map: this is the address, email and phone number we have associated with your account that students can see.
  • Specifics: This can include a site description, a preceptors bio, and may include other information, such as any logistical information about your site.
  • Site Requirements: Here you can see the requirements we have listed for students, this may include WSU requirements as well as site specific requirements. We are still working on building these out!
  • Site Tree w/Description & Docs: By reviewing the site tree you can see information we have. Site descriptions are listed at the parent site or individual site level, while rotation descriptions are listed under the appropriate preceptors.

If you want to update what we have on file just let us know at Pharmacy.ExpSer@wsu.edu.

Yes. CORE allows you to link your accounts for other institutions together to easily switch between them. For step-by-step instructions please login to your WSU CORE ELMS account and review the video in “Document Library” titled “ELMS: Linking Multiple Preceptor Accounts” for more information.

CORE has a user-friendly and intuitive interface for all stakeholders. It is a very robust and powerful platform with increased functionality compared to our prior platform. One fantastic resource available to students and preceptors is CORE Readiness, this includes a video library of over 1,100 videos that span the following categories:

  • Interviewing: tips for interviewing, e.g. “30 Common Interview Questions,” “Interview Advice from 9 Recruiters,” etc.
  • Overview: general information about pharmacy, e.g. “USP 900,” “Pharmacy Supply Chain,” “Nuclear Pharmacy,” etc.
  • Professionalism: advice for navigating the professional realm, e.g. “Business Meeting Etiquette,” “Public Speaking Anxiety,” etc.
  • Professional Skills: Pharmacy skills focused, e.g. “PubMed Orientation,” “Brand Generic Flashcards,” “Consequences of Drug Diversion,” “Spanish for Pharmacists,” etc.
  • Patient literacy: Subjects to help students explain to patients some confusing subjects, e.g. “What is MediCaid?,” “What is HIPAA?,” etc.
  • Clinical Consulting Activities: information on drugs, drug administration, medical conditions, and broad patient counseling points. e.g. “Acylovir,” “How to inject Basaglar KwikPen,” “Bone Problems from Cancer,” etc.

There is much more, these are just a few benefits!

Explore! You can also review the videos available to you in CORE ELMS under in the “Document Library” under “How-To Videos for CORE!” These are all ~1 minute or less and are a great visual resource.
