Whether you are a student\, teacher\, or counselor\, we encourage anyone interested in this topic to take part in this discussion. This is a chance to speak with health care professionals who can share more about what they do and their professional journey as pharmacists. \nSpeakers\n\n\n\n\n\nKim McKeirnan\nMcKeirnan is an associate professor in the Department of Pharmacotherapy at the Washington State University College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. McKeirnan has been nationally recognized for her work in improving immunization rates in rural areas\, developing a model for implementing chronic disease-state management services in community pharmacies\, and developing a pharmacy technician immunization training program. In her current role\, she continues to research ways to improve access to vaccinations. Her achievements at WSU includes creating the vaccine administration training program for pharmacy technicians\, which has since been adopted by the American Pharmacists Association (APhA)\, along with conducting research that supports expanding clinical services that can be provided in a community pharmacy.\n\n\n\n\nLinda Garrelts MacLean\nMacLean is vice dean for external relations for the Washington State University College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She is a past-president of the Washington State Pharmacy Association (WSPA) and a past trustee for the American Pharmacists Association (APhA)\, and a recipient of the Bowl of Hygeia Award\, the most widely recognized award amongst pharmacists who have distinguished themselves through action. She currently serves as the president of the board for BAVI Health and continues to advocate on behalf of pharmacists to be recognized as health care providers and compensated accordingly.\n\n\n\n\nNicole Rodin\nRodin is an assistant professor at the Washington State University College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences who operates and teaches the point of care course for second-year student pharmacists. She and a team of WSU College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences faculty recently organized an on-campus option for vaccination certification training with second-year students on the Spokane and Yakima campus. Over 120 student pharmacists were certified to vaccinate during this training and will be able to administer flu shots and a COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available. Her current role allows her to work closely with the Spokane Regional Health District leading students in weekly interdisciplinary vaccination clinics to utilize these skills and expend community access to these important services.

SUMMARY:Pharmacy Homecoming Social Hour
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Zoom social hour to meet Mark Leid\, the new dean of the WSU College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. As the Crimson Gala and annual tailgate have been postponed to 2021\, we will instead celebrate Mark’s homecoming! Many of you may know that Mark graduated from the WSU College of Pharmacy in 1983. After an illustrious career which brought him to France and Oregon\, we will be celebrating his return to the Cougar family. Join us for a live auction of Mark’s homemade red wine\, created with a selection of grapes from Yakima Valley\, aged in French oak barrels\, and crafted with precision by Mark and fellow engineering friends to ensure optimal flavor. Participants will also have a chance to win some Cougar Crest wine\, and other fun games to catch up with the CougaRx Nation. We hope to see you there! \nWines for Auction: \n\n2016 Sangiovese: This Sangiovese is from the Brunello clone of the Sangiovese grape grown around the town of Montalcini in Tuscany. This 2016 vintage grown on Lonesome Spring Ranch Vineyard in the Yakima Valley benefits from a warm growing year and exhibits jammy berry flavors\, supple tannins and is an easy pairing with any meat. ABV 13.6%\n2015 Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc/Petit Verdot/Malbec: A Lonesome Spring Ranch Vineyard field blend of these traditional Bordeaux varietals in 30/10/40/20 proportions. Fermented together\, this blend was 100% classic Bordeaux style from the start. The fruit is dark\, think black currant and dark plum\, firm tannins that open quickly\, and a complexity on the palate owing to the cab and malbec contributions. ABV 13.8%\n2017 Petit Sirah: This inky dark wine often appears blended in Zinfandel in California wines\, often adding a characteristic pepper/spiciness. On its own\, the wine exhibits big red fruit flavors and a hint of spice. ABV 13.8%\n\nRSVP \nSHOW YOUR COUGAR SPIRIT! This is a casual affair so wear your crimson and grey or bring any Cougar swag to show your pride. \nJoin via Zoom\nWednesday\, October 1 | 4:00 p.m. PST\nJoin Zoom Meeting from PC\, Mac\, Linux\, iOS\, or Android: https://wsu.zoom.us/j/94371419875?pwd=Q0xiR0pCNzhlZ2d2SXUrc3hpZFJHQT09&from=msft \nMeeting ID: 943 7141 9875\nPasscode: 994689 \nJoin by Telephone (long distance)\nFor higher quality\, dial a number based on your current location. \nDial: US: +1 253 215 8782 or +1 669 900 9128 or +1 646 558 8656\nMeeting ID: 943 7141 9875\nPhone one-tap: US: +12532158782\,\,94371419875# or +16699009128\,\,94371419875#
