SUMMARY:Infectious Leadership - Guest Lecture
DESCRIPTION:Join President of AMI Expeditionary Healthcare Rear Admiral (retired) Scott Giberson for an inspirational lecture on leadership. Giberson retired as an Assistant U.S. Surgeon General and two-star admiral with the U.S. Public Health Service in 2021 and has successfully led organizations through global and domestic health crises. Prior to AMI\, Giberson held executive positions as the acting Deputy Surgeon General of the United States\, Director of Commissioned Corps Headquarters\, Director of the Indian Health Service (IHS) National HIV/AIDS Program\, and Senior Public Health Advisor for Pacific Command’s Center of Excellence in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance. He also served as overall Commander of the Commissioned Corps’ Ebola Response in West Africa. Giberson held dual licensure as a pharmacist and clinician\, providing care in the pharmacy and as an IHS mid-level provider in family medicine. In 2010\, he authored one of the seminal documents of the profession entitled\, “Improving Patient and Health System Outcomes through Advanced Pharmacy Practice.” This document catalyzed a movement toward provider status that impacted the profession nationwide. \nEvent will be available in-person and virtual via Zoom.
