Research

Dr. Remsberg’s primary research interests focus on the scholarship of teaching and learning within the Doctor of Pharmacy program including:

  • Implementation of teaching innovations such as a flipped classroom model and effect on student perceptions and assessment performance
  • Evaluation of the college’s competency-based assessment model
  • Investigation of student motivation and learning strategies within a competency-based assessment and active learning curricular delivery models
  • Impact of student-led study groups on student performance and perceptions
  • Development of an interdisciplinary curriculum focused on patients using chronic opioids
  • Student behaviors associated with success in an active classroom curricular delivery model
  • Retention of compounding knowledge and skills following curricular placement changes

Outside of educational research, Dr. Remsberg’s research interests include pharmacokinetics with an emphasis on understanding transporter-mediated drug-drug interactions and predicting drug disposition through the Biopharmaceutics Drug Disposition Classification System.

Additional Information

Remsberg graduated from WSU with a Pharm.D. in 2010 and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2011. Under the guidance of Dr. Neal Davies, Remsberg’s Ph.D. work focused on the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and formulation development of hydrophobic compounds including naturally occurring polyphenols.

Following her Ph.D., Remsberg completed a post-doctoral fellowship in clinical pharmacology at University of California, San Francisco where she was mentored by Dr. Leslie Benet. While at UCSF, she studied how membrane drug transporters can be involved in drug-drug interactions that alter drug disposition. Her research identified a racially dependent, clinical drug-drug interaction between rosuvastatin and clopidogrel.
