Clinical Research

Clinical research studies involve human participants and follow specific guidelines.

In some research studies, participants are assigned by the investigator to a treatment or other intervention, and their outcomes are measured. In other studies, participants might complete a questionnaire, give a blood sample or mouth swab, or merely be observed.

Participants in clinical research studies benefit from playing a more active role in their own health care, gaining access to new research treatments before they are widely available, and helping others by contributing to medical research.
