Save-a-Seat
The Save-a-Seat program is for high school seniors and college students who are interested in a career in pharmacy.
This application option secures a seat in the program so you can focus on learning and start preparing for your future career in pharmacy.
Who Should Apply?
- Any high school senior or college students who have a strong interest and working knowledge of pharmacy careers
- Students with strong academic history in math and science

Admission Requirements
High School Students
- High school senior during the current academic year
- Minimum high school cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Plan to enroll at a regionally accredited college or university
College Students
- Currently enrolled or will enroll at a regionally accredited college or university for the current academic year
- Not applying to the PharmD program for the upcoming school year
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative college GPA
- Minimum “C-” or 1.7 GPA in all prerequisite courses
How to Apply
- Application will open in spring 2024, review begins summer 2024
- Submit two letters of recommendation from teachers, advisors and/or counselors
- Submit transcripts (and test scores if in high school)
*WSU students do not need to submit transcripts as they are in the myWSU system.
The pharmacy admissions committee will review applications and invite qualified candidates for Save-a-Seat preview day on the WSU Health Sciences campus in Spokane during the spring.
Once You’ve Saved Your Seat
- Complete the pre-pharmacy requirements
- Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA at the end of each pre-pharmacy year
- Earn a “C-” or 1.7 GPA or higher in all pre-pharmacy courses
- Have a plan to complete the pre-pharmacy requirements in 2-3 years
- Apply through Early Admission and complete all the admission requirements of the Doctor of Pharmacy program
- Participate in pre-pharmacy or pre-health sciences clubs (recommended)
If you remain committed to the program and are successful in maintaining eligibility you can focus on taking advantage of all learning opportunities during your undergraduate education. If you do not qualify at this time for the Save-a-Seat program you may continue working on your pre-pharmacy curriculum as an undergraduate student. We encourage all applicants to continue working with a pharmacy pre-health advisor, who can help you develop a plan to gain admission to WSU College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences with the normal admission cycle.
