Doctor of Pharmacy

Mentor Programs

One of the great things about being a Cougar pharmacist is getting to learn and develop within the network of the WSU community.

Alumni-Student Mentor Program

The Alumni-Student Mentor Program, supported by Fred Meyer, provides a professional support network for each of our student pharmacists, and contributes to our mission to develop outstanding healthcare professionals. This program pairs each Doctor of Pharmacy student with a current pharmacy professional, who is also a WSU alum or preceptor, in order to:

  • Provide additional one-on-one professional development opportunities for our students
  • Give students exposure to a current professional’s perspective
  • Give opportunities for our future pharmacy leaders to connect with current pharmacy innovators
  • Expose students to the Cougar pharmacy network for future employment opportunities

Each mentor commits to interacting with student pharmacists, primarily through email and phone contact. In addition to this, the college hosts multiple events for students to have the opportunity to meet and interact with their mentors face-to-face.

Mentors and students are paired during the spring semester.

Student Peer Mentor Program

The Student Peer Mentor Program pairs each student pharmacist with an upper classman in the College of Pharmacy. This program offers support from a fellow classmate who can give advice on exams, community involvement and much more. The peer mentor program is organized by our student ambassadors.
